City Boy is the story of a native New Yorker returning home after escaping his hood fifteen years ago. Now he's back, ready to face the city, his family and ultimately, himself.


Armando Batista (writer/performer) is an emerging artist from Washington Heights, NY.  A professional actor and teaching artist, he has performed in Philadelphia, New York and London. Batista premiered City Boy at Walking Fish Theatre in the 2012 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and recently performed in his hood, Washington Heights. “This piece is a work-in-progress. As an audience member, you are invited to a unique experience: the development of a new work. I welcome your presence,  and your constructive feedback. Elvis Nolasco (director and collaborator) was born and raised in New York City. As a young boy he would spend evenings dancing to Latin music in his family home. From Salsa to break dancing, Elvis would use his love of music and dance to establish a solid career that spans film, theatre and television. Current work: Elvis will star in the film Low Hanging Juicy fruit (Mango Bajito) with Danny Trejo set in the Dominican Republic. He just finished shooting Oldboy, directed by Spike Lee.
